Why You Should Be Riding a Bicycle

This article will focus on the health benefits of riding a bike rather than looking at the benefits to the environment and cutting costs with respect to using public transport. So what are the health benefits of riding a bike?

Cycling is right up there with swimming and running as one of the best cardiovascular fat burning exercises. As long as you cycle for more than 30 minutes without stopping, your metabolism will be burning fat and calories for several hours afterwards as it’s an aerobic exercise. Obesity affects 1 in 10 of our children and an even higher proportion of adults, cycling is a great family activity so get the whole family outdoors regularly for a bike ride.

If you do have joint problems or arthritic pain, swimming is probably best for you.

As children, we are greatly influenced by our parents. If our parents cycle, swim etc., and bring the children along too, the kids are likely to grow up maintaining a good level of activity.

If you are starting out on your weight loss journey, cycling is ideal if you are overweight and don’t want to start running yet. Consider cycling first to lose some weight before starting a running program, as cycling will be kinder to your body whilst you shift some excess pounds. Cycling will be a lot easier on your joints.

Getting outside into the sun is great for all of us. Exposure to sunlight gives us Vitamin D. Vitamin D is not present in many foods, so getting outdoors is very important for us. This vitamin is important for calcium consumption and is also needed for bone growth. Sunlight will also increase your levels of serotonin. Low levels of serotonin may mean you are irritable, depressed, and anxious. So fix it and get happy with a bike ride in the sun, just wear lots of sun screen. As your stress levels reduce through increased serotonin, you will have a much better night’s sleep and feel more relaxed.

With a steady amount of exercise, your immunity will increase as your immune cells become more active, and hence, fight off infection. You will have a lower risk of getting cardiovascular disease, lower blood pressure, and you lessen the risk of getting type 2 diabetes and various forms of cancer.

Fact – according to the British Heart Foundation, cycling for just 20 miles a week, will reduce your chances of getting heart disease by half, compared to those who take no exercise at all. Sure that alone is worthwhile?

As you get fitter, blood flow and oxygen to the brain is boosted which regenerates your receptors, and hence your brain power. So it’s a way of warding off Alzheimer’s disease as well.

So there are enormous health benefits to cycling. Cycling will also tone your body, developing muscle in your pelvis region, your thighs and calves and generally toning your entire body.

Now surely you can fit this activity into your daily routine without upsetting it too much? Why don’t you cycle to and from work? It’s probably quicker than driving if you live in the City and you’ll save money on transport costs at the same time. If you cannot do that, try and cycle two to three times a week, with a good ride at the weekends. Your body will love you for it.

Health – You’re As Healthy As You Say You Are

You are as healthy as you say you are. Your thoughts are powerful. When they move you to feel and experience life on an emotional level then you manifest whatever you think about and focus on most of the time.

Your spoken thoughts carry even grater power to create the reality you speak. And usually, when you speak your thoughts you manifest the focus of your energy even faster.

The formula for creating what you desire actually runs think the thought:, write down the thought; speak the thought; share the thought aloud with another person. Each of those steps increases the possibility of you manifesting the thought and speeds that result along.

Did you ever stop to consider what you think about your health? Do you listen to yourself talk about how you feel?

For instance when someone greets you with the words, “How are you?” what do you respond? If you feel crummy do you tell them you feel crummy – thereby re-enforcing how bad you feel? Or do you reply, “Great!” and then immediately feel better because of the new different energy you just shot through your system?

I know someone who is depressed. I never saw anyone talk about being depressed so much. Even though she is very active in her life doing everything she knows to alleviate the depression her constant talk reminds her body, mind and spirit that she feels depressed.

No matter how much effort she expends endeavoring to create a normal life free from the depression, she cannot succeed. She focuses her energy on feeling bad. In fact she focuses most of her energy on how bad she feels.

Depressed people do that. Sick people do that too. Sometimes it seems as though people think they will win a prize for being the sickest one around. Obviously they derive benefit from seeing themselves and telling others how sick they are.

What people who dwell on the negative fail to recognize is that others get bored hearing bad stuff. Others notice how being around those who talk about how bad they feel gets depressing, In fact such “victims” usually drain energy from other people. Before long victims find they have very few visitors or friends who come to visit.

Then there are the very many people who buy into the cold and flu season that the media creates. The other day I noticed how the end aisle displays in the grocery store contain cold and flu remedies. Now there is a subliminal message if I ever saw one. I recall when I used to watch television that ads told you when to get sick.

Lo and behold I observed people getting colds and flu right on cue. They will tell you they get the flu twice a year and even tell you when. So what do you think happens for them? Exactly. They get the flu when they expect to.

Pay attention to what you think and say about your own health to feel better instantly!

Stop Excessive Sweating Today With 3 Super Easy Tips That Will Turn Off the Drips

I’m going to reveal to you my 3 super easy tips that I used which finally started to help me combat my excessive sweating problem. Now, before I reveal my super easy tips that will help to stop your excessive sweating, let me just say that my tips are nothing new and you will already know them but I bet my bottom dollar that you aren’t doing them. May I ask why?

Here’s super easy tip 1

Get More Exercise – Some of you are now on the defensive. He said super easy. Exercise super easy? How many of you are thinking that? Come on be honest here. Any form of physical activity that raises your heart rate from it’s natural level can be classed as exercise. So for those of you who were thinking I was about to tell them to hit the gym or go and run a marathon, you can relax. Actually no, don’t relax too much. Get up and go for a walk but make it a brisk walk so that you can feel you are putting a little effort in. Can you feel your heat racing a bit more? That’s good. Take the stairs instead of the lift. If you’re popping to the shop, leave the car and walk, use your bicycle even. Doing this will all add up to you doing more physical activity which will make you naturally fitter and healthier which will make your body more efficient and sweat less. Phew, I can catch my breath now.

And now for super easy tip 2

Drink water, then drink some more water – Let me set the record straight for some of you because I know that there will be some people reading this thinking why the hell would I want to put more water in me when I’m already sweating loads out of me. The answer is simple. Your body’s temperature needs to remain constant and cool. When your body’s water levels are low, it’s core temperature will rise and the end result is your body will start sweating to cool itself down. So I guess the moral of the story here is, keep sipping to stop you from dripping.

Last but not least, super easy tip 3

Actually, tip 3 contains 2 tips, so maybe this article should be titled 4 super easy tips. Anyhow, the reason I have combined them as 1 tip is because this tip involves a vitamin and a mineral. Vitamin B is a must for your body to function properly. Similar to water, if your body is too low on Vitamin B levels then you core body temperature will rise and you will overheat. Increase your intake of Vitamin B to to reduce the risk of this happening and reduce the chances of your body sweating excessively.

One of the very best ways to stop excessive sweating is to raise your body’s magnesium levels. When your body sweats, it’s not only cooling your “system” but it is also getting rid of poison and toxins that develop inside you. Magnesium also does the same purpose, however, if your magnesium levels are too low then the body must work harder to rid the poisons and toxins and the end result is more sweat. So try to increase your intake of magnesium with your diet and you will see results. Science lesson over.

Nanotechnology Used to Target Cancer Cells

Imagine being able to find metastatic dormant cancer cells far too small to be detected by MRI, CT or PET scans. Research being conducted at the University of Pennsylvania has successfully demonstrated this ability using animal models. The experiment, involves synthetic, biocompatible flourescent materials called porphyrins which are embedded  into the water-resistant cell membranes of a string of molecules. These strings, called polymeres, are mechanically strong yet flexible enough to squeeze through the microcirculation without being damaged.

Recently,  Peter Ghoroghchian from the Department of Bioengineering, embedded these flourescent porphyrins in a tumor located one centimeter beneath the skin of  a mouse. He then shone near-infrared light onto the skin which  triggered the flourescent materials, illuminating the tumour. Using near-infrared wavelengths enables these signals to pass through water, blood cells and other compounds that make up tissue. In other words, the signals are able to be detected up to 10 to 12 cms through breast tissue and 5 to 6 cm through muscle tissue. Because the polymersomes are made of nontoxic materials they differ from other contrast agents  currently used in imaging for CT and MRI.

The application of this technique is quite far reaching. Think of these polymere chains as a train that is able to carry the porphyrins (to light up and identify the cancer cells) and carry the chemotherapy agents to destroy the cancer cells. Because cancer cells have specific chemical markers on their outer membrane, specific chemical substances can be developed that will attach  to the cancer cell’s  outer membrane. Current chemotherapy is non-selective meaning that it targets all cells that are rapidly growing, killing good and bad cells alike.  This new technology will enable doctors to find cancer cells that are too small to be detected  and deliver chemotherapy to the site leaving healthy tissues intact.

Revitalize With Eyelid Plastic Surgery – How Much Does it Cost?

Eyelid plastic surgery is a great way to fight the signs of aging. The eyes are what give your age away. Pouches under the eyes, wrinkles at the edges and sagging eyelids can even make you look older than you are. Eyelid plastic surgery offers an easy way to get you looking youthful, fresh and lively again. The procedure involves making tiny incisions and adjusting tissue underneath. It’s one of the quickest and simplest procedures, and carries little risk. It’s also one of the cheapest options available.

A Break-Down Of Eyelid Plastic Surgery Costs

The estimated average cost of eyelid plastic surgery is around $4,000. However, if you shop around at different clinics, you’ll find a wide variety of price ranges. You can get your work done for as little as $1,500 or as much as $7,000. The surgeon’s fee is usually around $2,500. The other costs include anesthesia and a facilities fee. Both are under $1,000. The average cost of anesthesia is $700 and the average for the clinic fee is $800.

Factors That Determine Cost

With a range of $1,500 to $7,000, you might wonder what could possibly account for the difference. There are several factors that affect the cost, and it can make a huge difference in whether eyelid plastic surgery is a possibility for you.

First, prices vary from clinic to clinic. Some simply charge more for the use of their facilities and their surgeons. This isn’t always a mark of quality. The main factor that affects these costs is the region where you get your work done. Major cities like Los Angeles, New York and Chicago are simply more expensive. You’ll also find its costs to be higher on the west coast. Meanwhile, the midwest and south offer the best prices for it.

Another major factor is the patient’s health. Overall health affects price, as well as age. Most people who get this procedure done are over 40, and it’s a little tougher to heal properly for people in this age range. As you get older, the price will rise. Smoking is also a major lifestyle factor. It’s harder for smokers’ bodies to heal, and this can affect the price of your procedure.

The best way to find out exactly how much you’ll need for your eyelid plastic surgery is to have a consultation with a surgeon in your area. They’ll be able to assess your overall health and give you an accurate estimate, taking into account facilities fees, anesthesia and their surgeon’s fees. They can also give you options for funding.
